Here’s the new Honda feelgood commercial, “Do, Keep Doing, Do Some More”.
It’s a little bit advertising, a little bit eco-awareness, and a little bit soapboaxing. The work’s by W+K; it was brought to life by directors Coan and Zorn from Not to Scale, and the post production is by The Mill, London. Like most Honda commercials in the UK, that mellifluous voice belongs to Garrison Keillor.
It comes in the tradition of other feelgood commercials from Honda, the most famous of which was the “Grrr” spot in 2004, which won more awards than you can shake a 2B pencil at. It was also by W+K, directed by Smith and Foulkes at Nexus Productions. Yes, hate can be good if it gets you to do something, even if it’s simply whistling happily for days on end.
I like good animation. And good storytelling. And something like this is definitely on my “to do” list. Gotta do more.
Everybody, all together now, in the key of “Grrr”…
